The New McCarthyism
Friday, October 31, 2008 at 11:28AM Some things to consider in the current political climate of "red-baiting", selfishness and unbound capitalism.
"When I feed the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist."
- Dom Helder Camara, Archbishop of Recife, Brazil
Or this beauty from Franklin Delano Roosevelt:
"Governments can err, Presidents do make mistakes, but the immortal Dante tells us that divine justice weighs the sins of the of the cold-blooded and the sins of the warm-hearted in different scales. Better the occasional faults of a Government that lives in a spirit of charity than the consistent omissions of a Government frozen in the ice of its own indifference."
While I am not one to worry about any "divine" justice, I do believe we should try some here and now, you know, on earth... perhaps even in America.

Somehow I doubt seriously that's all the archbishop was, ahem, "asking."
Dearest Fitz,
Are you Prussian by any chance?
